Q and A with Sevendaze

1st December 2012 by Emma Scott

Sevendaze have played many Emma Scott Presents gigs and feature in the promo video for us too! (they stole my screwdriver as well….) Let’s have a chat:

Q. So, come on then, let’s have the low down:

A. We’ve been around for nearly three years now. 3 of us – Ken (vox) Brett (Bass) and Mike (Guitar)- all knew each other from school and played in many different bands together. After many failings we managed to find Jamie (Drums) or ‘Jotto’ as he was formally dubbed after our first practice together and since then we’ve been SevenDaze!

Q. Do any of the band members have any weird habits?

A. I don’t think theres anyone without a small ‘little’ thing but not really weird! We as a band kick a football around in our lock up during breaks whilst at practice. That started due to a discovery of a deflated little yellow football one day which had ‘John’ printed on it. Unfortunately were not the greatest of footballers so it lasted about 3 weeks before we burst it, but since then we always make sure we have a ‘John’ to kick around. I think were on ‘John 9′ now!

Q. What are your plans for the future?

A. 2013 were recording our album at Uni-Vibe Recording Studios in Birmingham and then were looking at touring with that around the UK, playing as many places as possible and hopefully hitting a few festivals along the way! We nearly got a slot headlining Download Festival, but unfortunately Rammstein said ‘Ja’ before we could! We enjoy what we do and we hope the people that come to our gigs enjoy it as much as we do, and i think were all just content on making music together for as long as the future will have us!

Q. Any upcoming releases?

A.Not this year! Were going back into the practice room over Christmas to fine tune a few new tracks we’ve been working on. Were still in the process in sorting gigs out for 2013 and will be looking at unleashing them in the live sets before we record the album in April. But until then ‘The Doubt’ EP is still available to keep your ears warm over the X-Mas period.

Q. What is the best gig you’ve ever played?

A. Theres been a lot of memorable great gigs but the best one has to be when we played next door to ‘Black Sabbath’ on one of our Emma Scott Presents gigs – because it was the most surreal. As an unsigned band you don’t usually get to play next door to the local heroes! We also had cheers for an encore that night but we had already played past Sabbath! (1 – 0 Ozzy!)

Q. If you could play with any one in the world, alive or dead for one night only, who would it be?

A. I don’t think as a band we have one person wed like to play with alive or dead! As a collective. I think we’d all love to go on tour with the likes of ‘Papa Roach’, ‘Skindred’, ‘Korn’, ‘Limp Bizkit’, ‘Staind’ and all the bands we grew up with and still hold a lot of influence over our playing style.
