Q and A with Lightfire

29th November 2012 by Emma Scott

Interview with Scott Sieradzki:

Q. Can we get some band history?

Lightfire was born when two old bands collided, Lee and Dave played in two bands at the same time, one had Rich Walton in and the other had Rich Bates in, the boys joined forces in Spring 2011 under the title “Operation Super Group”.

Rich Bates went into my Dad’s musical instrument shop asking if he knew any singers who wanted to join a band, and like the good pops he is, he mentioned I’d been in the day before saying I wanted to start a band, so in the words of Tenacious D, “it was destiny!”

Since then we’ve received some great feedback and reviews, received numerous plays on Kerrang!, BBC WM and Absolute Radio and shared the stage with InMe and The Xcerts!

Q. What are your plans for the future?

We’re hoping to set up a 2013 tour off the back of our upcoming EP, we are currently busying ourselves trying to contact the right folks to get noticed, in the hope to one day do this as a job!

Q. Any upcoming releases?

We are currently putting finishing touches to our first EP which should be due for release on ITunes and in real life CD format in April, please keep your eyes here for details!

Q. What is the best gig you’ve ever played?

We have a few really, our first Emma Scott Presents gig was epic because we played to packed out Slade rooms with some class bands, we’d also say Burtfest as this was our first festival and our first hometown battle of the bands it was absolutely rammed and bouncing and led to our first Kerrang! Radio play!

Q. How about the worst?

Probably sounds cliche, but we haven’t got one we always try to put a show on whether there is one man and his dog in or if it’s packed to the rafters, it’s part of gigging!

Q. Do any of the band members have any weird habits?

We all have a form of whistling Tourette’s! It started with me whistling a couple of notes at the end of phone calls this is now something done at the start, during and end of conversations, and sometimes with people not been in the band which gets odd looks, all members of the band suffer with this disorder!

Q. If you could play with any one in the world, alive or dead for one night only, who would it be?

I know all the other boys would have varying answers, for me personally it would be Foo Fighters because I absolutely love them, however if it was a choice as the whole band I think we would say an Aussie band called Karnivool, they are phenomenal and we would be very happy men to be on a bill with those fellas!
