Q and A with O.W.L.S

28th November 2012 by Emma Scott

O.W.L.S headline The Flapper in Birmingham on Sunday December 9th.

We caught up with Toby Macfarlaine from the band for a quick chat!

Q. Give us some history of the band…

A. After Stone Gods was squished by the return of The Darkness, I wrote a bunch of demos and played them to Richie and Stuffy who said they liked them. Then I asked Ollie if he wanted to be in a band with me. He said yes. Then our mate Padge from Bullet For My Valentine asked if we wanted to record in his new studio. We said yes. Then we did a handful of shows. Now we’re doing more. So far it’s been ace.

Q. Do any of the band members have any weird habits?

A. Ollie has a tendency to get his bum out in public. Richie keeps his sat-nav in a sock. Stuffy is a cat breeder. I talk to myself. All the time.

Q. What are your plans for the future?

A. More gigs. Touring where possible. Record a full album. Become hugely important.

Q. Any upcoming releases?

A. Dec 9th the single is unleashed. (7 inch vinyl Hurt Janine/Vitamins) Available here

Q. What is the best gig you’ve ever played?

A. The next one. Always looking forward.

Q. How about the worst?

A. I can’t remember it.

Q. If you could play with any one in the world, alive or dead for one night only, who would it be?

A. TAD

Wanna support O.W.L.S?

26th October 2012 by Emma Scott

We have the amazing new band, O.W.L.S playing for us again on Sunday December 9th at The Flapper in Birmingham.

Featuring ex members of The Darkness and Stone Gods and the current rhythm section from Graham Coxon‘s band; these guys are amazing live – and damn funny too.  They are also the nicest boys in a band you will ever meet.

Check them out here and if you’re suitable to play with these God-like creatures, then apply via the contact form.  Tell us as much about your band as possible and tell us why we should book you.

This is gonna be a great gig and something you will remember for the rest of your life.  You can tell I’m a fan, right?!

Gig happenings

28th May 2012 by Emma Scott

Wow! Could things get any busier in the Emma Scott Presents camp? Not really, but I’m getting ready to launch the gigs into new venues very soon – so watch this space! All will be revealed soon.

May was a great month for the gigs – with 3 jam-packed gigs that were an absolute pleasure to be part of*.  Thanks to each band for playing, but especially to:

Bury The Ladybird for stepping up to headline with a weeks” notice after another band pulled out at the last minute. Great fun backstage too.

O.W.L.S – for blowing everyone away, for being amazing, spunky, noisy, raw -  and entertaining backstage.  Such gents. Love you, fellas! Well done on the e.p. release!  Spiffing;-)

Zodiac N Black – for dropping everything and playing for us with a few days’ notice – and for being great at the gig too. Thanks for the T Shirts too!

Sevendaze – For taking on the Academy 2 venue upgrade in their stride.  They loved the fact that they could hear Black Sabbath through the walls though and Sharon Osbourne was in the loading bay;-) Great work boys!

The Grades – for also taking the headline position with just a few days notice. They brought so many friends and fans to the gig, it was rammed. We got great video footage of the audience going mental! Love it.

* – Mostly – Non-thanks to the 4 bands who pulled out and mucked everyone about;-)

Looking ahead to 3 MASSIVE gigs in June with headliners: Hostile, Fury and From the Get Go.  Looking forward to those – and some great supports too – so let’s have an even bigger month in June!

Your support is needed for each and every gig, so we hope to see you at one of them soon!
