Q and A with The Sacred Sun

The Sacred Sun

Q. So, give us a brief history of the band:

A. We started out in early 2011 as a five piece, which included Ross (vox) as co-founder and also Anthony on guitar. Very soon, Jay (bass) and Rich (drums) entered the mix. After a few live shows, the other guitarist left resulting in the four-piece as it stands today. Since then we have been gigging in Birmingham, have recorded a couple demos, and have been having a great time with it all!

Q. Do any of the band members have any weird habits?

A. Jay (bass) drinks a copious amount of energy drinks! Ross (vox) makes a strange pig-like sound to scratch the back of his throat when it’s itchy. And Rich (drums) likes to break wind in-between songs.

Q. What is the best gig you’ve ever played?

A. A headlining gig at The Flapper. The crowd were really involved and responsive; there were other great bands supporting us; the overall sound was great, and we all got drunk after! It was good fun.

Q. How about the worst?

A. A gig in town a few months back. The mic lead wouldn’t stay in the microphone, the cymbals had no screws (just felt) and so it flew off when Ross smacked it, the PA speakers blew so the monitors had to be used instead. As a result, we couldn’t hear ourselves. However, our fans and the crowd were awesome so we just had to laugh at the situation!

Q. If you could play with any one in the world, alive or dead for one night only, who would it be?

A. Jay – I’d love to play with Cliff Burton and do a dual bass solo!

Rich – I’d like to have a drum off with Dave Grohl, the man has serious chops.

Ant – For me it’s either Dimebag Darrell or Alexi Laiho.

Ross – I’d love to play with the original Guns ‘N Roses line-up.

Q. What are your plans for the future?

A. To record a mini-EP, continue gigging, and build our fan-base.

Q. Any upcoming releases?

A. We are recording an EP with the plan to release it ASAP!
